ahh.... back to the yard

so we have been faithfully trying to get the back yard in order. but it has just been too humid. finally, a break in the weather. this past week, we extended the garden bed so i should get too very good rows of food. the compost bin is in. we recycled our old trash can that had seen its last days... by drilling holes in it and burying it in a sunny spot in the garden, we have achieved the perfect little composter for a whopping... free. plus, it is a new chore for the kid who has asked all the right questions and just does it as normal now.

the water bin reclaiming the rain water has been created with a new trash can and my crafty husband added a tap and a drip hose too it. so we should be good. the next step is to purchase some organic topsoil and plant. i know. it's almost october. well... apparently, down south, this is a great time to start your first rotation. we shall see. my northern farm boy husband is thrown for a loop... but we'll give it ago. as long as we can keep the dog out... we should be good.

so yes, the garden is coming along nicely. the eco-nature of this house is coming along nicely. and big news! our county recycling program is finally picking up cardboard! yeah!
