Ok... I have changed my mind.

I have changed my mind regarding the bailout and assisting the big 3. Screw them. Yes. I know this goes against what I said earlier. But after listening to the talk for a few days, sitting down and writing a bit for my hubs and for palinsgop.com, I have decided that if we truly are in a free enterprise system, then would it not be logical to let the big 3 fend for themselves?

There are plenty of automakers around the US who have been holding on and have been doing ok. They have managed their money and costs and fought the tough fight. It must be cold there in the shadow of the big 3. But, in that bleak coldness, they have done much to bring up the fuel efficiency of their cars, lower vehicle emissions, use green business practices and so much more.

Yes. The downfall of not helping the big 3 is the loss of jobs. But if the plan is well thought out and follows as green of a path as possible, it is possible for our society to survive this and have this incredible accomplishment towards changes our ways.

I am still out on the financial industry. Bunch of money weasels... but it really is hard to just let the financial industry fail. Car industry? That's another story.

Hi,

My name is Lara Glew. I've just visited your site and I was wondering if you'd be interested in exchanging links with my website. I can offer you a home page link back from my Recycling website which would be (http://www.ekamo.org/) Page Rank 2

As mentioned, your link would be placed on the site home page, not on any "links" pages which may be buried in the site somewhere.

If you are interested please add the following information to your website and kindly let me know when it´s ready and I will do the same for you in less than 24 hours, otherwise you can delete my link from your site.

I've been back and forth, but largely on the side of saving/bailing them.

Yes. I want to see them be better run

Yes. I want to see them compete better with the Asian companies.

Yes. I think it is unfair that bond-holders for these companies have been collecting more $$$ than average and they will probably be spared loss.

But the number of jobs & companies & industries that will be lost should the Big 3 collapse scares me. I don't have anyone in my family that is at all affiliated with any automaker, but I shudder to think of the ripple effects if they collapse.

Tell me this - how many times are you going to head over to Circuit City to buy an expensive TV now that they have filed for bankruptcy?

How many people would be deterred from buying a US car if they do the same?

Time will tell..

I agree. The fall-out effect could be bad. But I have also heard that it would take a year for the supply industry to regroup.

I personally own two GM vehicles and I would still buy another one if they were in bankruptcy. It isn't as if they are going to stop making the parts for vehicles currently on the roads.

The other thing that could happen if they aren't bailed out, is that GM will be forced to re-group. In bankruptcy, they could actually free themselves from the grip of the unions.

Is it fair that taxpayers bailout a company for business practices so they can provide health care to their workers when many taxpayers cannot afford health insurance for themselves?

I am all for helping the neighbor, but GM has the ability to take care of themselves. A fleet of jets has to be worth something to someone?
