Whole Grains can fight Fat, Cholesterol, You Name It!

Wow! In watching "Get Fresh with Sara Snow", one of my favorite shows ever (beside the "Manic Organic")... a factoid ticker says that the average American gets less than one serving of whole grains a day.

To me, this is hard to believe as I get at least 3, which is the recommended... and sometimes even more. Call me crazy... but anything whole grain tastes delish! From thick and hearty "adult" breads to a bowl of Kashi cereal... try the apple cinnamon mini-wheats (my four year old loves these and so do I).

Whole grains provide relief from high blood pressure, naturally free in cholesterol and well... let's face it... aside from apples... natures broom!

About two years ago I was fighting with some serious baby weight... yes... approximately 60 of the 80 pounds I had gained were still around. This was really my change to organic eating. All breads became whole grain. All cereals high in fiber and low in sugar. Portion control and working in the yard also helped... but this one change... literally shed 60 pounds in 10 months. Aside from yoga and the yard work... I really didn't break a sweat.

So get those whole grains!
